A friendly reminder that Cisco CCNA Certification Track goes live on February 24, 2020. The new CCNA program is designed to prepare you for today’s associate-level job roles in IT technologies. This program has one certification that covers a broad range of fundamentals for IT careers, with one exam and one training course to help you prepare for the future of IT. The new Cisco certification is to be retooled for the latest technologies and job roles and gives you the foundation to take your career in any direction.

The CCNA certification covers a breadth of topics, including:

  • Network fundamentals
  • Network access
  • IP connectivity
  • IP services
  • Security fundamentals
  • Automation and programmability
Migration to the new program

The new CCNA certification replaces the current CCNA certifications for:

CCNA CloudCCNA Industrial
CCNA CollaborationCCNA Routing & Switching
CCNA Cyber OpsCCNA Security
CCDA Data CenterCCNA Service Provider
CCDACCNA Wireless

If you have started working toward any current CCNA or CCDA certification, continue finishing it. You will have until February 23, 2020 to complete your current CCNA/CCDA. A heads up if you complete any current CCNA/CCDA certification before February 24, you will receive the new CCNA certification and a training badge in the corresponding technology area. Secondly, if you already have Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification and would like to earn CCNA, you have until February 23 to complete your CCNA certification in the current program. As of February 24, you will need to take the new exam to complete the CCNA certification.

Prerequisites

There are not any formal prerequisites for CCNA certification, but you should have an understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

CCNA candidates often have:

  • One or more years of experience implementing and administering Cisco solutions
  • Knowledge of basic IP addressing
  • A good understanding of network fundamentals
